ITBP – ASI / Steno & Head Constable Exam Pattern & Syllabus

ASI / Steno (DR & LDCE) Exam Pattern: The candidates qualified in the Physical Standard Test (PST) will be required to pass the written examination (Objective type – OMR Based) consisting of the following Section, Duration of the Written Exam will be for 3 hours (180 minutes).

  • Subject : General Arithmetic
  • Medium : Hindi / English
  • No. of Questions : 30
  • Marks : 30
  • Subject : General Knowledge
  • Medium : Hindi / English
  • No. of Questions : 25
  • Marks : 25
  • Subject : General English
  • Medium : English
  • No. of Questions : 35
  • Marks : 35
  • Subject : Theoretical Knowledge of computer
  • Medium : Hindi / English
  • No. of Questions : 10
  • Marks : 10

The candidates, who qualify for the above-written examination, will be required to appear in the skill test.

Skill Test (20 Marks) : Shorthand and Typing

  • Dictation : 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute (English or Hindi) Transcription : 50 minutes (English) on computer Or 65 minutes (Hindi) on computer.

HC (ESC) Exam Pattern : The candidates qualified in RACE and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be required to pass the written examination (Objective type – OMR Based) consisting of Section, Duration of the Written Exam will be 120 minutes.

The candidates, who qualify the written exam, will be required to appear in a skill test.

Skill Test : Typing Test on computer (Minimum speed of 35 words per minute in English typing or minimum speed of 30 words per minute in Hindi typing only on computer.

Syllabus For Indo Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) ASI & Head Constable Exam :

  • General Arithmetic : This paper will include questions on Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

General Hindi : your basic Hindi knowledge is enough to get good marks in this section. You should concentrate on the following areas…

  • Passage (Gadyansh – गद्यांश)
  • Synonyms (समानार्थी शब्द)
  • Antonyms (असमानार्थी शब्द)
  • Checking mistakes in व्याकरण, भाषा, वर्तनी
  • Filling the given Blanks with suitable words
  • General Knowledge: Questions on current events, sports, history, geography, basic economics, general politics, Indian Constitution, Science environment etc.

Computer Knowledge :

  • Basic Hardware and Software,
  • Uses of Computer
  • Generations of Computer
  • Basic Computer Operations / Shortcut Keys
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • General English: Reading Comprehension (Simple Level), Spotting Errors, Sentence Correction, Sentence Completion, One Word Substitution, Synonyms, Antonyms, etc.
  • Reasoning: Series Completion, Analytic Reasoning, Classification, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Logical Venn Diagrams, Syllogisms, Number, Ranking & Time Sequence Test, Decision Making, Series Pay less attention to Non-Verbal Reasoning.
