3) Diu
The First Union Territory of India to run 100 percent on solar energy is Diu.
Diu has become the nation’s first-ever renewable energy surplus Union Territory (UT) in just three years. Diu now runs 100 percent on solar power energy.
Becoming fully solar energy-efficient has helped the UT in cutting down on the power loss which it earlier faced when it used to borrow electricity from a Gujarat government grid.
Additional Information
Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity.
It is either directly using photovoltaics or indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination.
Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and solar tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small.
