Ram Prasad Bismil was one of the leaders of the Kakori conspiracy case. The Kakori conspiracy was a train robbery that took place on 9th August 1925, in which a group of revolutionaries, including Ram Prasad Bismil, looted the train carrying British government’s treasury from Saharanpur to Lucknow. After a long trial, Ram Prasad Bismil, along with Ashfaqullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, and others were sentenced to death by hanging. They were executed on 19th December 1927, in Gorakhpur Jail. The Kakori conspiracy case was a major event in the Indian freedom struggle and brought the revolutionaries into the limelight.
