SSC CGL Syllabus Overview
SSC CGL 2022 will be conducted to appoint eligible candidates into reputed offices, departments, and organizations under the Government of India. Check the table below to have a brief of the CGL Exam Pattern for Tiers I, II, III, and IV.

SSC CGL Pattern – Salient Points
- Every Aspirant has to appear for the Tier-I written exam to qualify for Tier-II.
- In Tier-II, paper 3 (Statistics) is only for the Junior Statistical Officer posts and paper 4 (Finance & Economics) is only for Assistant Auditor & Assistant Accounts Officer posts.
- In Tier IV- The Data Entry Speed Test is only for Tax Assistants and Computer Proficiency Test is only for roles that come under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs & Ministry of Mines.
SSC CGL Tier-I Pattern
According to the SSC CGL Exam pattern, Tier I is conducted online and consists of Multiple Choice Questions. Check the SSC CGL Tier-I topic-wise marks distribution and the number of questions given below:

SSC CGL Tier-I Syllabus
The SSC CGL Tier I exam is an online, multiple-choice exam consisting of 4 sections and 100 questions in total. The total number of marks for the Tier I exam is 200. The SSC CGL Tier I exam is 60 minutes (80 minutes for differently-abled candidates).
The SSC CGL Tier I comprises four sections.

SSC CGL Tier-II Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-II Syllabus
The SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier II consists of 4 sections.
- Quantitative Aptitude – This paper has 200 marks in total. The duration of this paper is 2 hours.
- English Language & Comprehension – This paper has total marks of 200 and the duration of the paper is 2 hours.
- Statistics – This paper too has total marks of 200 and the duration of the paper is 2 hours.
- General Studies (Finance & Economics) – This paper too has a total mark of 200 and is of 2 hours duration.

SSC CGL Tier-III Syllabus
Tier-III of the SSC CGL is a descriptive test. It is conducted to test the candidate’s written skills in the Hindi/ English languages. The examination is conducted offline, Pen and Paper mode, and students have to write essays, applications, précis, letters, etc, in this exam.
The exam is for 100 marks, and the total duration of the exam is 60 minutes. The total time allotted for PwD category candidates is 80 minutes. Tier-III paper has to be given only by those candidates who have applied for “Statistical Investigator Grade-II” & “Compiler” posts.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Syllabus
DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): Candidates who applied for the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax) must give the DEST to prove the typing speed of the candidate. Candidates must type a given article in English on the Computer. To clear the DEST, candidates must type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): This exam consists of 3 modules: Word Processing, Spread Sheets, and Generation of slides. Proficiency in these skills is necessary for the posts of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), and Inspector (Examiner).
