West Bengal Police SI Exam Pattern
The WB Police SI Exam Pattern comprises five stages. First, there is a Preliminary Exam, followed by a Physical Measurement Test and a Physical Efficiency Test. After this, there is a Final Combined Competitive Exam, followed by the final Personality Test. The exam pattern of all the stages are mentioned below:
Preliminary Exam
- This exam will either be an OMR-based MCQ type written exam or will be a Computer Based Test (CBT), depending on the number of candidates.
- The exam consists of 100 questions worth 200 marks in total.
- The exam is for a duration of 90 minutes.
- Every correct answer is rewarded with 2 marks.
- Every incorrect answer leads to the deduction of 0.25 marks. There is no negative marking for the questions that are left unattempted.

Candidates must go through the WB Police SI exam syllabus thoroughly and prepare themselves accordingly. Candidates must score the minimum marks required to pass the preliminary examination and move on to the next stages of selection.
Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PMT & PET)
In this stage, the candidate must satisfy the physical requirements stipulated by the WBPRB. Candidates should first clear the PMT to proceed with the PET. The physical measurement requirements are mentioned below:

If the candidates fulfill this criterion, they are eligible for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

If the candidate is dissatisfied with his Physical Measurement Test (PMT), he may appeal in writing before the Chairperson of the Selection Board/Committee on the same day of his test. No appeal in this regard will be entertained in the future. The height of a candidate may be re-measured at any stage including the Personality Test at the discretion of the Board and the decision of the Board shall be final and binding on the candidates.
Final Competitive Examination
This WB Police SI exam pattern consists of three different papers. The candidates must score the required cutoff to be eligible for the personality test.
- All the papers are held on the same day.
- Paper-I will be set in three languages i.e. English, Bengali, and Nepali.

Personality Test
This combined competitive exam is followed by a Personality Test. This is a personality assessment conducted by the WBPRB and the candidates must score 8 marks in the test out of 30, failing which they will be disqualified. During this stage, their documents will also be verified.

Physical Efficiency Test and Personality Test
After the candidate qualifies through the Prelims, they’ve to appear for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and then they will have to qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Following this, they’ve to qualify for the Final Combined Competitive Exam and lastly the Personality Test.
