Dara Shikoh devoted much effort towards finding a common mystical language between Islam and Hinduism. Towards this goal he completed the translation of fifty Upanishads from their original Sanskrit into Persian in 1657 so that they could be studied by Muslim scholars.
The main reason is Dara was Shah Jahan’s eldest son and he didn’t want to lead him in any battle due to fear of loss. He was generally surrounded by theologians and scholars. He was defeated miserably by Aurangzeb in subsequent battles of Dharmat and Samugarh(1658).
His translation of the Upanishad is named as Sirr-i-Akbar.
