Shruti means “that which is heard”. As vedas is revealed knowledge by ancient sages and the vedas is passing through listening from ages.
It is different from smriti(remembered) , those ancient texts which finds it origin from remembrance.
Smriti are those class of Hindu sacred literature based on human memory, as distinct from the Vedas, which are considered to be Shruti (literally “What Is Heard”), or the product of divine revelation.
Samhita refers to the most ancient layer of text in the Vedas, consisting of mantras, hymns, prayers, litanies and benedictions.
While Vedangas are six auxiliary disciplines associated with the study and understanding of the Vedas. Vedangas are additional limbs or chapters in the Vedas. The six Vedangas are – Shiksha (Phonetics), Kalpa (Ritual Canon), Vyakaran (Grammar), Nirukta (explanation), Chhanda (Vedic meter) and Jyotisha (Astrology).
